Service Learning

Lets give back!
We are focusing on service learning and why we should do service!
Below you will find a power point with a small lesson and a project for you at the end of it.  We are combining two lessons in one by practicing our use of technology and service.

Content Standard:  5th Grade Health, Standard 7, Objective 1.  Participate in a service learning that assists in the preservation of natural resources. 

Ed Tech Standard: Standard 5, Use technology tools for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.

Lets Vote!

Today we are combining a use of technology to VOTE on what books we are going to read as a class this semester!
The majority wins so you may end up reading a book you don't want to but this gives us an opportunity to voice our choices.

Tools of choice: Google Forms

Content Standard: 5th Grade Reading, Standard 10. By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, at  the high end of the grades 4-5 text complexity band independently and proficiently.  Continue to develop fluency when reading documents written in cursive. 

Ed Tech Standard: Standard 4. Use general purpose productivity tools and peripherals to support personal productivity, to remediate skill deficits, and to facilitate learning throughout the curriculum.

This week we are focusing on Healthy Living! Today's topic is respecting yourself and those around you! 
Have you ever thought about that before?  This assignment will teach you this principle as well as help you become more comfortable with your keyboard application and using google docs.
